Stay Longer

One evening, when he had finished his work, Geppetto went to his little cupboard and took out a piece of wood. 'I’ll make a boy out of this,' he said to himself. So he set to work and began to carve the wood. As he was carving, the piece of wood suddenly cried out, 'Ouch!' Geppetto was so surprised that he dropped his chisel and looked around to see where the voice had come from. But he saw no one. 'Did you hear that?' he said to himself. 'What can it be?'"

Geppetto went on working, and after a little while, he had finished carving the legs and arms. But just as he was about to carve the head, he heard a voice again. 'Father, father!' it cried. Geppetto jumped back and looked all around. But there was no one to be seen."
